Assignment Goals

The goals of this assignment are:

1. To reflect upon the course texts in preparation for thoughtful discussion
2. To organize thoughts into a concise and cohesive response to a targeted question
3. To consider multiple viewpoints about ideas

The Assignment

In this end-of-semester reflection, you will take stock of your growth as a writer across the three essays and your work with our Writing Fellow, Vienna Gurev.

Writing Prompt

1. Looking across your three essays, describe one specific way your writing changed this semester: in how you build a thesis, choose evidence, structure an argument, or revise. Point to a concrete before-and-after example from your own drafts.

2. Reflect on your conferences with our Writing Fellow. What kind of feedback proved most useful to you, what did you learn to ask for, and how will you carry this revision practice into CIE 200 and your other courses? What advice would you give to next year’s CIE students about working with a Writing Fellow?
